Get ready for it — this drink is made with Tilda Basmati Dry Premium Rice, which gives it a distinctive aromatic and floral flavour to tantalise your tastebuds. And the best part? It’s super-easy to make! So get your glasses ready and raise a toast to the drink that’s sure to be the talk of your town.

Whether you’re cooking up a curry, building a burrito or finding the perfect rice to go with your favourite seasoned chicken, Tilda has you covered. A delicious meal or accompaniment that is ready in just two minutes.

Horchata (or-chaa-tu or haw-cha-tuh)

Ingredients:

Serves 4

1¼ cups Tilda Pure Original Basmati Rice
½ cup sliced almonds
2 cinnamon sticks
4 cups cold water
100g panela sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 cups whole milk

Method:

  1. In a high-speed blender, add Tilda Pure Original Basmati Rice, almond and cinnamon sticks. Blitz for 30-60 secs on high until mixture is a fine crumb, stopping occasionally to shake the blender if mixture sticks to the bottom.
  2. Pour in the sugar, vanilla and 2 cups water and blitz for 30 secs.
  3. Pour in remaining 2 cups water and milk. Otherwise, pour into a large container with the water and milk.
  4. Cover and refrigerate for 8–12 hours.
  5. Strain mixture through a fine mesh sieve into a pitcher.
  6. Serve with ice and garnish each serving with ground cinnamon or cinnamon sticks.
