Cheesy Artichoke Pull-Apart Bread with Organic Milk Co. by Eatwell Team August 31, 2022 Get to know The Organic Milk Co. The Organic Milk Co. is a collaboration of the largest network of organic dairy farmers in Australia. Ryan Reynolds says The Organic Milk Co. made the move towards ethical, certified organic farming practices to deliver Australian families organic dairy products that are free from genetically modified ingredients, chemicals, pesticides, added hormones and antibiotics.Reynolds shares that the journey commenced in 2015 after the directors of Australian Consolidated Milk (the parent company of The Organic Milk Co.) noted the growing demand for Australian-made organic dairy products. “After identifying the opportunity, a recruitment and conversion program commenced to take the milk pool from zero in 2015 to what is now the largest in Australia,” Reynolds says. “This program has provided farmers with a full solution, from soil management, herd health and organic feed supply to financial and certification assistance.”Its model ensures that every dairy farmer who supplies The Organic Milk Co. is guaranteed a fair price for their organic milk. This assurance enables a sustainable organic milk supply and price for families and a fair price for Australian farmers. In 2019, The Organic Milk Co. constructed a state-of-the-art processing facility with specialised systems to effectively process organic milk for the retail and ingredients market. “This investment has been key to delivering high-quality, cost-competitive products and signals a long-term commitment to the organic dairy industry in Australia,” Reynolds shares. The Organic Milk Co. difference Made with the goodness of Australian organic milk, The Organic Milk Co. Salted and Unsalted Butter provides a depth of flavour and richness to your dish other butters simply can’t match. Look for a butter that is deep yellow in colour as this means the organic milk has come from grass-fed cows raised outdoors all year round. It’s also important to buy organic dairy when you can. Organic certification is critically important to The Organic Milk Co. as well as the industry. The three main barriers to consumers buying organic products are trust, value and accessibility of product. Without certification, consumer trust is hard to gain and, in some cases, can be eroded very quickly by products/brands that make organic claims without the certification to back it up. The Organic Milk Co. has a strong environmental management program in place with a pipeline of initiatives to further reduce their carbon footprint. The organic farming system has a relatively low-level impact on the land with a focus on regenerative crops and self-sufficiency to supply water and feed. Reynolds shares that they’re aiming for The Organic Milk Co. factory and operations to be carbon neutral by 2023 and to supply all products in fully recyclable packaging. Looking ahead, The Organic Milk Co. believes the impact of COVID-19 will produce a long-term and sustained change in consumer preferences for local and healthy products that demonstrate transparency through the supply chain. As the largest organic dairy business in Australia, it’s The Organic Milk Co.’s responsibility to set the standard for quality, price and environmental impact.
