Connected to the Yarra Valley Estate, the Edible Forest is the incredible vision of owner Louise Ward. Immaculately maintained by head gardener Jaimie Sweetman, the netted food forest has over 300 species of edible and medicinal plants. Join a garden tour, find out what to plant and when and don’t forget to purchase some delicious fresh preserves and chutneys, all made on site. With bees buzzing on brightly blooming flowers, insects humming happily and striking small bird species sharing the fun, the Yarra Valley Edible Forest is not to be missed.

3. Four Pillars Distillery

2 9

For Four Pillars Distillery, it all started back in 2013 with three mates and one extraordinary copper still. Nine years later and Four Pillars Gin has gone from strength to strength, taking home the award for the world’s leading gin producer … twice. Using local native botanicals like lemon myrtle and Tasmanian pepper along with a twist of citrus, their gin is creative, delicious and versatile. Stopping in for a paddle of mini G&Ts is a must when you’re thirsty in the Yarra Valley.

4. Punt Road Winery and Cellar Door

4 4

Punt Road Winery is a must-do when you visit the Yarra Valley. The family-owned vineyard and winery creates wines that reflect their heritage site and the creative energy of the Yarra Valley. With home-grown varieties such as pinot gris, chardonnay, pinot noir, shiraz and many more, winemaker Tim Shand has crafted delicious, very drinkable wines with minimal preservatives. Book a session at their Cellar Door and relax with a cheese platter and fine glass — or bottle — of wine.

5. Yarra Valley Farmers Markets

3 6

Who would have thought Victoria’s longest-running farmers market was in the Yarra Valley? Held at the Punt Road Winery on the third Sunday of each month, the market is a lively place of delicious food, tantalising aromas and fresh flavours. At the award-winning market, you can buy directly from the grower, producer or maker. This prompts conversations around food
and growing and, most importantly, ensures your products haven’t flown thousands of miles to get to you. If there was one thing we could all do for our planet, it would be shop at your local farmers market.
